Mill operator on CivPro Mill operator on CivPro In the event that fun at others' expense and dark law understudy online journals are the means by which you get your kicks, feel free to google the expression I detest common procedureitll give you some feeling of the dread, abhorring and bewilderment the course rouses in 1Ls everywhere:There is more perusing in that class than each of the three of my other significant classes consolidated. I have an inclination that I go through over a large portion of my time on earth perusing exhausting horse crap about long arm locale or deliberate availment I loathe common procedure.I've been reading civ star for what feels like an unending length of time. what a divine being terrible subject. Such a large number of incredibly nit-fastidious standards and subtleties. I think if there is a civ genius exposition on the bar I will simply compose the bar inspectors a short story based on my personal preference for that 30 minutesthe subject? Likely batman or ninjas. It presumably would have helped on the off chance that we had an instructor who was more keen on showing us the nuts and bolts than in recounting anecdotes about when he was practicing.I abhor Civil Procedure coincidentally. I'm so screwed.According toArthur Miller in his SEO CLI talk, Civil Procedure is so hard for two reasons: the express strangeness of the topic and the basic certainty that it is every now and again inadequately educated (Some educators show the backwoods, others the leavesthe great ones show the trees). Why so remote? As indicated by Miller, it is on the grounds that Civ Pro has a crucial other course don't: it shows understudies how to peruse and grasp rules (ie theFRCP). Furthermore, about that perusing? What you read in graduate school isn't care for perusing a comic book, it is nearer to perusing the Talmud. Ageism The Disgrace of Generational Generalizations

Ageism The Disgrace of Generational Generalizations As of late, I addressed somebody a couple of years more youthful than I am who reprimanded ageism for his joblessness. I reacted unequivocally, Well, obviously, youre not finding a new line of work when you are hefting around that vitality. Abdication is usually determined by the conviction that our absence of achievement is because of conditions outside our ability to control. We cannot succeed in light of the fact that we are excessively old, excessively fat, excessively youthful, a lady, a moderately aged white man, and so forth. At the point when we accept this, we surrender. We quit yearning, revolting, endeavoring, learning, and developing. In the programs we run at Inspired Work, I get the opportunity to see individuals at their most optimistic. I get the chance to see their certainties and what they need to achieve on the planet. From that vantage point, I can likewise observe that physical age has little to do with development, worth, or ones capacity to contribute. Indeed, even a youngster can turn into an old fart, since what we accept decides if we are new or dated. The Reality of Age My very own considerations on age started to change soon after I propelled Inspired Work. It was 1992. I was sitting in the assembly hall at the Beverly Hills Hotel close to Boyd Willat, the creator of Day Runner and numerous other effective endeavors. We were individuals from The Inside Edge, which was something of a morning meal club for human likely pioneers. We met each Tuesday morning to hear creators talk and to associate with any semblance of Jack Canfield, Tony Robbins, Barbara De Angelis, and others. It was a strong encounter for a newcomer like me. On this specific morning, I happened to look toward the passageway of the room when a magnetic old woman strolled in with a company. A somewhat wicked laughter filled her face, which was framed by curly dim locks. I went to Boyd and asked, Who is that character over yonder? He reacted with a touch of amazement, Thats Emily Coleman. Many think about her as the grandma of the human possible development. I had no clue about what that implied however was constrained to present myself. Minutes after the fact, I was before Emily. After I presented myself, her grin augmented. Goodness, Ive found out about you! she said. Ive been anticipating meeting you. Emily speedily wrote out a note at the gathering table and gave it to me. Heres my telephone number! I felt it raunchy to peruse the note before her. Thus, I held up until I had come back to my seat close to Boyd before opening it. It read: Youre charming! Lets get together! Our companionship end up being a defining moment for me. I experienced childhood in a fierce supportive home. For years, Emily was my self-named mother. Emily wound up took part in our next Inspired Work program not long after our underlying gathering. There, I learned she was somebody who delighted in all her years whether she was 20, 50, or 70. Emily was composing a book at the time, Growing Old Disgracefully. She believed that so as to remain youthful and imperative, we should be happy to break the entirety of our restrictions, outperform our constraints, and never surrender to average quality. In the beginning of our Inspired Work programs, Emily was part of the help group. She had a remarkable capacity to move both love and disappointment. Emily led the primary naked experience bunch in the United States, and she demanded disclosing to us anecdotes about it in distinctive and intense detail. It was anything but difficult to imagine Emily encompassed by youngsters as she amused them with accounts of connecting blossoms to her pubic hair since she didn't have anything else to wear. Indeed, she left a significant number of us slack-jawed â€" yet she had liberated herself. Around Emily, I discovered that chuckling, amusingness, and declining to pay attention to yourself also are critical to keeping yourself fundamental. Emily instructed me that the second we are lured into turning out to be casualties and saints is the second we turn old. She instructed me that we become old farts the second we quit feeding our minds. Following her to some degree crude foray into human potential, Emily went on to help thousands of individuals find cherishing and satisfying connections. She composed books about associating with others, and she stirred up our sensibilities about what it intended to adore somebody in the cutting edge time. We had a custom. I would head to Newport Beach and cross the minuscule extension to Balboa Island. Each time I strolled into her home, Emilys eyes lit up. She detonated with euphoria. I recall one especially groundbreaking second when I asked, Why are you so energized with me? Since you have a blessing, she said. Changing the world isnt for the hesitant, and it very well may be a desolate ride. I see you. I was accustomed to getting honors during our projects, however scarcely any comprehended what it took to accomplish my work. Two years prior, I had a progression of bits of knowledge about work. I realized that in the event that I accomplished something with those bits of knowledge, it would change the world. Pushing ahead required relinquishing the state of affairs, shedding past convictions about my own profession way, and finding a completely new emotionally supportive network. It was lonely work, and Emily got that, yet she likewise helped me discover probably the best individuals on the planet to tutor and back me. When Emilys wellbeing started to fail, we moved our visits from Balboa Island to helped living. I strolled a few doors down with her once when an old person on a walker sneered as we passed. She snarled, Go get another person, you old lech. My heart has a place to this guy, my child! â€" At whatever point somebody says, I am excessively old, consider Emily. At whatever point somebody says, Im excessively youthful, consider Taylor Wilson, who assembled a combination reactor in his folks carport. At whatever point somebody says, Im excessively frail, consider Stephen Hawking. David Harder is the originator of Inspired Work.

10 Resume Must-Haves

10 Resume Must-Haves TweetFor a great resume its important to include these 10 factors: 1. A clear focus on a specific role or type of job and how you are well qualified for it. 2. Emphasis on what you most want employers to remember about you the top reason(s) that make you stand out as the best person for the job. Think of these as your key selling points. 3. Accomplishments/results/impact. How did you make a difference for your past employers? Its not enough just to list your duties thats just a job description, and it wont sell you. 4. Skimmability. If a busy recruiter looks at your resume for just 10 seconds, what will they notice? Make sure your key selling points and other essential qualifications pop off the page. Formatting such as bullets and boldface type should be used judiciously to call attention to your most important messages. 5. Keywords. Find them by analyzing job postings. The most important keyword is your desired job title. Other important keywords are the most crucial qualifications for the job, such an MBA, channel marketing or JavaScript. 6. The right sections in the right order for your unique situation. Strategically choose to include the sections that work for you, in the order that works best for you. For example, if youre a recent graduate or seeking a role in the higher education field, then your Education section should probably be near the top. Formatting is especially important and tricky when youre revising your resume for a career change. The only required sections are Name, Contact Information and Experience. Additional sections to consider are: Summary, Core Competencies (or Expertise), Education, Skills (or Technical Skills), Awards, Affiliations, Volunteer Experience, Additional Experience, and Interests (if relevant and/or brand-enhancing). 7. Formatting that works well in Applicant Tracking Systems. An ATS is a system that reads resumes and uses the information to fill in a standardized candidate profile. It then scores the resume according to how well it matches the job opening. The profiles that score highestmaybe the top 10-15%may be read by human resources personnel to identify potential candidates. ATSs are easily confused and may jumble or reject your resume if you include unusual fonts or symbols, nonstandard section headings (like Relevant Roles instead of Experience), or place crucial information in headers, footers, text boxes or graphics, none of which will be read by an ATS. Dont use this kind of formatting. 8. Good, strong verbs, especially at the beginning of each bullet item in your Experience section. Heres a good list. 9. Clear, concise, correct writing. With so many other resumes in the running, a confusing or wordy one may end up being discarded to save time. As for the mechanics of English correct spelling, grammar, word usage, capitalization, punctuation, etc. you might be surprised by how many errors youre making. Even professional writers see a mess of red ink when an editor has gone over their work. At the very least, hire a professional proofreader. Youd be surprised how affordable it is. I can introduce you to a very capable pro who charges less than $15 to proofread a two-page resume. Even tiny errors like bad punctuation can subtly detract from the intelligent, well educated impression you want to convey. 10. Smart management of your career timeline. Be strategic in your choices about how far back to go, whether to include months or just years, and what jobs to include or leave out. Notice that I havent emphasized the resumes appearance. Making it look eye-catching and attractive with tasteful use of color, shading, fonts and graphics (while following the advice in #7 above!) can be helpful, but the 10 factors above are more important. Environmental Educator A Career For a Changing World

Environmental Educator A Career For a Changing World Source: CareerProNews Simply put, environmental educators are people who teach others about the environment. And since the environment is front page news these days, their career is experiencing renewed interest and big changes. Who exactly are environmental educators?   The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) has about 20,000 members. The breakdown of NAAEEs membership is a good indication of what environmental educators are doing and where.   Brian Day, executive director of NAAEE, says: Probably about 15 to 20 percent are in the formal education system, with most of them teachers, some of them curriculum developers, some of them science or social studies educators who are overseeing parts of school systems.   Another 15 percent are in higher education. Day says that they could be teaching in places like the education or forestry departments of colleges and universities.   Then, about [another] half of our members are what I could call non-formal educators, Day continues. They work in nature centers, parks, aquariums, zoos, botanical gardens and a myriad of other places. And then the last segment works for government, and they can work at the national level like for the Department of the Environment or the [state], county or local level.   Moving to a holistic approach What people often mistake about environmental education is they think its advocacy in the classroom, and thats just dead wrong, says Day. Environmental education is helping students learn at any age learn how things work so they can make their own individual lifestyle choices and participate in public policy debate.   He explains that environmental education is a lot more than just science. Its how natural systems and living systems and human systems all interact, including the social dimension, the political perspective, the economic situation to why is there global warming, and where should our next energy come from. But if you dont bring the human dimension to it, then youre a scientist, not an environmental educator. Kristin Poppo is the head of graduate and professional studies at IslandWood, an innovation environmental facility on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She agrees that a holistic approach is important.   There definitely is a growing recognition that we really need to teach our children to care more about the world around them, she says. Our programs look at both community and environmental stewardship, and we try to connect those. So we want people who have that broad sense of caring about the world around them.   Poppo herself doesnt have a science background. Among her many degrees, she has a BA in philosophy and religion, a Master of Divinity, and a PhD in educational foundations.   A career path with a few challenges?   The largest number of environment educators work in informal settings, as Day indicates. Jobs in these places are often part time, often seasonal, and tend to pay less than jobs in formal education and with the government.   Environmental educators often start out in nonprofit organizations to build up experience for their resumes. It can take a little legwork to find these jobs. You have to look for organizations that employ environmental educators and find out if theyll be hiring in the near future. A diploma or degree from a college or university is usually the minimum requirement for an entry-level job, but this is where things get a little hazy because there really are no hard and fast rules about qualifications.   Although nonprofit organizations generally look for people with environment or science backgrounds, Kerri Lanaway says that theyll also consider individuals with arts, education or even communication backgrounds. Lanaway is the school programs coordinator for a Sierra Club chapter.   Chad Stevens is a city park ranger. His job has both environmental and enforcement components. Therefore, the minimum requirement is generally a two-year diploma in environmental science or a two-year diploma in policing and security, he says, adding that, a forestry or other related diploma or degree would also be considered.   In Stevens job, educating the public about the environment is just one of many responsibilities, and its a very informal one.   We do present programs to the public he explains, but more so, the education component involves brochure development and information dissemination.   The city where Stevens lives and works employs 10 park rangers and offers them a pretty good salary. So competition is fierce when a job is advertised. Stevens says that about 250 people may apply. And while some of the rangers use the job as a stepping stone to something else, Stevens says that some people do stay.   For most formal education and government jobs, a bachelors degree is typically the minimum requirement. But a masters degree or a PhD will move you up the ladder faster and earn you more money. Day says that about seven percent of NAAEEs members earn $90,000 per year or more, so its possible to earn a great salary if you get on that track.   But even in education and government, the nature of your degree is pretty much open. And this actually reflects an important trend in the whole environmental educator career scene.   A changing climate   Climate change is a reality, and the climate for environmental educators is changing along with it. IslandWood, the innovation environmental facility where Kristin Poppo works, is very much at the forefront of new trends. While offering innovative programs for children, adults, families, teachers and graduate students, IslandWood also takes pride in the fact that it pays its educators quite well.   Weve pretty much set a model for educating that is pretty exemplary, and so people are excited about being a part of our organization, says Poppo. But there are a lot of jobs out there in a lot of different areas. And we find that those of our students who are going into teaching, either in public or private schools, are in very high demand.   There are a few things that are happening right now that are very much changing the nature of environmental education and will cause quite a surge in the number of employers looking for environmental educators, adds Day. He explains that the NAAEE has just recently become the newest member of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the organization i n charge of the professional accreditation process for schools, colleges and departments of education. We firmly believe that NCATE will formally adopt, based on guidelines weve already developed, standards for environmental education and how its to be taught at the university level, says Day. This means that individuals graduating from these institutions will be better qualified to work as environmental educators. At the same time, he continues, we have legislation introduced in Congress that will provide more money for training teachers in environmental education. And then we have real environmental problems that are getting global attention.   Day also mentions the fact that parents and teachers are becoming more aware that todays children, for many reasons, are disconnected from the natural world.   Its a wonderful time to be in this organization, he adds. Were at a place in human history where in the next generation we have to change everything that humans have done on the planet: economics, transportation, energy, the way we build buildings. We need to reconceive everything.   So, do you have a passion to get in on the action? Whatever type of environmental educator you want to be, theres a job somewhere for you. And since the requirements for this career are still developing, you can probably make your own unique career path to this line of work     North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Lots of information about standards, guidelines, initiatives, research and more http://www.naaee.org   Career: Environmental Educators Career profile of an environmental educator provided by CollegeBoard.com http://www.collegeboard.com/csearch/majors_careers /profiles/careers/106513.html   IslandWood An innovative facility offering environmental programs http://www.islandwood.org Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)

IRS Guidelines for Book Authors for Hobbyist vs. Pro

IRS Guidelines for Book Authors for Hobbyist versus Genius IRS Guidelines for Book Authors for Hobbyist versus Genius Any assessment guidance for writers and essayists should begin with the inquiry: are you a specialist or a pro? Being an expert influences what you can deduct costs identified with your work as a writer, so its critical to comprehend the qualification. Bringing in cash as a writer isnt simple, and in any event, smash hit writers encourage you not to stop your day job. While numerous individuals are energetic about their composition and try to get by at it, few out of every odd book writer can profess to be an expert - for benefit - in those most significant eyes of the IRS. Here are a few rules. Specialist versus Ace Author The IRS makes a basic qualification between sole-owner writers (and every single other specialist) who employ their specialty professionally instead of rely upon their composing work to get by. You are dared to be an expert if your composing makes a benefit in any event three of the last five expense years, including the present year. On the off chance that your book composing doesnt end up being a revenue driven undertaking, misfortunes from your composing may not be utilized to counterbalance other pay for charge purposes (that is, on the off chance that you cannot demonstrate yourself to be a master, suitable conclusions can't surpass the gross receipts for the action.) Obviously, numerous independently published book writers need to make a benefit and become genius (like Donna Fasano), however not every person will. Hence, composing is one of the callings that the IRS regarded worth more profound examination on account of their potential interest and appeal as side interests instead of occupations. (Others incorporate pony and canine reproducing, yacht sanctioning, plane renting, betting, photography, angling, cultivating, stamp gathering... what's more, bowling). The Hobby Loss Rule for Authors Basically, whats casually known as the leisure activity misfortune rule isolates the specialist from the geniuses. Notwithstanding the 3-out-of-5-long periods of benefit, the accompanying components (explained from the IRS) may additionally assist you with determining whether your composing would almost certainly be considered for benefit or as a leisure activity according to the administration (1): Does the time and exertion put into your composing show a goal to make a benefit? A full-time corporate day work requires you submit 35 hours or more to it - something to consider while considering your case of expert essayists hours.Do you rely upon pay from the action? Be reasonable here: if your lease is $1,000 every month and for as far back as two years your complete composing pay from digital book royalties hovers around $25 for a similar timespan, youre not going to genuinely guarantee that you rely upon that salary. On the off chance that there are misfortunes, would they say they are because of conditions outside your ability to control or did they happen in the beginning up period of the business? The previous piece of the inquiry could be deciphered as: might you be able to have potentially made a benefit had it not been for factors in the book commercial center? On the off chance that youre an author in startup, as opposed to a specialist, you have quite a long while to show a benefit (see below).Have you changed techniques for activity to improve gainfulness? As such, where your composing is concerned, if your benefits are not as much as what youd like, would you say you are adopting the thought process of a representative and attempting to improve your salary by changing the manner in which you work? Possibly that would mean going through cash to make a multi-creator blog, or paying somebody to make a substance showcasing plan, or increasing your pay by attempting to get supporters for you r blog. Do you have the information expected to carry on the movement as an effective business? Being an expert book writer, such as maintaining any business, is mind boggling and testing. What amount do you think about maintaining that business? Is it accurate to say that you are running it like a business, keeping records, keeping an eye to profitability?Have you made a benefit in comparable exercises before? On the off chance that you have a fruitful book added to your repertoire - or even a progression of articles in paid distribution - that is an indicator that youre an expert. Does your composing make a benefit in certain years? The IRS is searching for supported movement and benefit to show youre an expert as opposed to a novice tinkerer. Obviously, the specialists today can be the experts of tomorrow. On the off chance that you genuinely seek to be an expert book author but dont very make the cut of the IRS definition, cheer up. Continue connecting endlessly at your composition and keep mind the elements you have to create to become thought about a star. Peruse increasingly about charges and the book writer, including deals charge realities for independently published writers. Should You Care About Graphology

Should You Care About Graphology 3 Low turnover is one trait shared by companies on CNNMoney's 100 Best Companies to Work For 2007, which is hardly surprising. Good companies not only appreciate the investment they make in you, but also the investment you make in them. Turnover is a lost return on these investments and a sign of failure. As a result, companies want more than ever to be sure of themselves when they recruit and are willing to try unconventional ways of evaluating candidates, like graphology. What is Graphology? Graphology is defined as the “study of handwriting especially for the purpose of character analysis” by Merriam-Webster's Dictionary. Many people tend to roll their eyes at the idea that their personalities can be deciphered from a few lines scribbled on paper and the fact is that there are numerous scientific studies both for and against the validity of graphology. It can happen to you Quick story. During my last job search, a recruiter arranged an interview for me with a top executive at a major hitech company in Israel. My qualifications seemed to fit the job description perfectly and the interview went well enough. Before a second interview could be scheduled, the company required that I write a letter in Hebrew for graphological analysis, which I did without hesitation. I did want the job after all, and I had never been asked to do this kind of thing in the past so I was intrigued albeit somewhat skeptical. I failed the test and didn't get the job. What happened? I was a bit disappointed but not nearly as frustrated as my recruiter since I really did seem like a perfect match for the company. “Why would they do this to you?” she asked me. “You're not a native Israeli (my mother tongue is English and I was born in Montreal) so it doesn't make sense to test you in Hebrew. You couldn't have passed.”eval Anna Koren is a world-renowned expert in graphology, having founded The Graphology Center in Haifa back in 1976. She also co-authored “The Secret Self: A Comprehensive Guide to Handwriting Analysis“. I asked Ms. Koren about the recruiter's reaction. She told me that the recruiter was”…absolutely right. It is very very important to write in the language you are used to.” So much for that. The Test My first brush with graphology could have gone better, but I was still curious about what my handwriting might reveal to a future company, government agency (they are among Anna Koren's clients), descendants, etc. I decided to see for myself by taking a test on handwritingwizard.com. You'll need to give an email address but the test only takes about 15 minutes. Here's some good sample text covering all the letters in the Latin alphabet to write out in cursive before you begin.eval I was blown away. As an introspective person who knows himself pretty well, it would have been tough for me to write a description of my personality as well as the Wizard did. I laughed out loud a few times as I read things about my character that I knew but had never seen written. Wrap up Companies will try new filtering techniques and candidates need to anticipate them to be prepared. Although no longer new, graphology continues to gain popularity and you should test yourself first to avoid surprises later on. Try it, you may learn something. Some food for thought- doing the test reminded me how long it had been since I had written any text longer than my signature. Will graphology die out as our children spend ever more time on computers? How long until children no longer learn to write cursive at all? Don't be surprised!

How to Write Your Summary on Your Resume

How to Write Your Summary on Your ResumeWriting your summary on your resume is one of the most important parts of your job search, as it indicates to a potential employer what you are looking for. A potential employer will also be able to read and understand your resume much better if your summary is clear and concise. Although your resume might be short and to the point, there are some specific elements that will help with writing your summary. The first thing you should know when writing your summary is to start by describing your skills. Describe your skills in great detail, including the type of job you hold, what you do best, and why it is the best choice for you. Be sure to include any special training you have received or any certifications that you may possess. When describing your skills, don't be afraid to list your hobbies, interests, and past jobs, if appropriate. List your education and any training you may have had.The next part of writing your summary is to describe wha t you are looking for in a new job. This part is not necessary to be written down, but you should always describe what you are looking for in your summary. You should also indicate how long you have been searching for a job.Once you have completed your summary, take a break. For your resume to appear professional, you should make sure that your summary is neat and organized. Most important of all, take the time to look over your summary before it is submitted to your potential employer. Reviewing your summary can help you get rid of grammatical and spelling errors, as well as demonstrate that you have thoroughly researched and prepared your resume.Once you have written your summary on your resume, you should use the same process to create a cover letter that will be sent to your current employer. Although there are many programs available online to format your cover letter, if you are having trouble with formatting it yourself, consider using a program to create a template for you. You can also search the Internet for free templates to give you an idea of how they look. Templates will save you time and effort when creating your cover letter. Finally, before submitting your resume and cover letter to your current employer, take the time to send them a short note to let them know what yo u are looking for in a new job. Give them the name of your potential employer, and how you found out about the position. Include your contact information so that your contact can follow up with you if they would like to interview you.It is important to be clear and concise in your summary. By taking the time to be specific in your summary, you will be able to stand out from the other candidates who have not spent the time preparing their summary.

Combining Two Business Ideas Produces Increased Results - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Combining Two Business Ideas Produces Increased Results - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career As I read the stories of other small business owners, lightning struck in a good way. These people all did one thing in common to find success far beyond what they originally envisioned. It is the combination of two success strategies that made the enormous difference. Community service and collaboration are the two success ingredients. In the past, I advised separately to incorporate both of these strategies into your business plan. But the power of combining the two did not occur to me until now. Each of the entrepreneurs referred to above initially faced incredible obstacles, including either losing or walking away from everything they knew. But they held their original vision of what they wanted and firmly believed it would come to be. Beyond that, they allowed others to assist them to get back on their feet. Most of us work alone and feel guilty accepting help. This needs to be changed. The new philosophy should become one of collaboration. Work together Are you involved with a continual community service project where others benefit from your expertise? Consider how your project would benefit by bringing on board those you know, like and trust. What would your grandest project look like? When you bring like-minded people together, the ideas multiply and advance to where your project lands on a much higher plane. The most difficult part of this philosophy is asking others to pitch in. It sometimes seems easier just to do the project by ourselves and not ask for help. So priorities once again are required. Should you desire to create a much larger vision for how you serve others, the collaboration will do this. When it works well, the friendships that come of it usually last a lifetime. The benefit you provide others as well as the rewards become far greater than originally envisioned. Side benefits may come your way too. You may develop new ideas for further products and services; recognition of your name and brand will increase dramatically, and more people will be motivated to become your client. Let me illustrate my experience. I have always taught job seekers how to interview best as a community service project. Many benefited, but it was a solo endeavor. Being it was just myself, there were limitations on how grand the project could be. On a somewhat larger scale, a friend and I created a Business Resource and Job Fair in our town to become known. Because it was community driven, we were given much free publicity and attracted over 200 people to our event. Upon seeing the outpouring of gratitude, it led me to writing my second book, HIRED! The book attracted the right attention itself. Carlos Gil runs the LinkedIn group, JobsDirectUSA.com Finding me in the group and becoming acquainted, he invited me to be a featured speaker for his online conference to be held last quarter this year. It is a nationwide collaborative effort to help get Americans back to work. The combined effort of associations, groups and individuals will bring an event far grander than anything I could do on my own. Our effort is being called AmericaHires360. Working on a grander level with others will enable you to enjoy far greater visibility and many a Smooth Sale! Business Loan Options for Women with Bad Credit

Business Loan Options for Women with Bad Credit Back in the 1960s, it was never easy for women to engage in entrepreneurship activities owed to the many taboos which were associated with women in the business realm. However, more than 50 years now, women are able to compete favorably with their male counterparts when it comes to conducting businesses not only locally but also from the global point of view. However, accessing the capital to fund the operations of business still remains a challenge for many women. Actually, the majority of the big banks are reluctant in offering loans to women considering many of them tend to have bad credit scores. Therefore, it is important for women to consider the available options instead of waiting for their credit history to build up. This way, they will be able to grab business opportunities while they are still viable and expand their corporation while the market conditions are favorable. In this article, we are going to discuss the small business loans options which are available for women having a bad credit history. Women-based organizations/groups The current wave of women empowerment has led to the rise of many organizations and groups which are supporting women in not only building their career but also becoming self-employed. Some of these organization and groups are achieving this agenda by funding women to carry out certain entrepreneurial activities. Majority of the loans provided by these organizations are of very low interest and they sometimes require zero collateral and therefore anybody without money can access this nature of loan perfectly easy. Therefore, as a woman entrepreneur, you can take advantage of these organizations/groups and secure a loan to fund your startup or the expansion of your business Find an understanding lender The traditional lending environment will not be your friend as a woman especially if your credit history is poor. You will have to search different types of lenders who readily provide loans for small businesses which tend to have poor credit scores. Getting such kind of lenders will increase your odds of getting your loan approved and therefore enhance the muscles of your startup.  You can find out these type of lenders from the internet or maybe liaising with your friends who probably might be familiar with the lending fraternity. Basically, when you do your homework well and research widely, you will likely land a decent lender who is likely to sort out all your issues. Alternative Lenders These types of lenders came into being after the 2008 recession when the banks had technically ceased from lending to weak businesses. Their rise was to bridge the gap which had arisen from a reduced amount of lenders compared to the increased demand for loans. These lenders, well known as the fintech lenders make use of various algorithms to determine the amount of loan which can be extended to a person. Currently, the majority of these firms are using big data technology to mine and profile data of potential customers which are later used to determine the creditworthiness of anybody who wishes to borrow from them. Therefore, as a woman, you can consider taking a loan from these kinds of lenders because the banks will not be of help to you. Friends and families In case you have a family member or a friend who is financially stable, you can request a loan from him/her.    Explain the repayment mode perfectly well and maybe the benefit which you will offer after settling the debt. Make sure you honor the agreement with the friend or the family member so as to prevent future confrontation something which can put your business at a stake. Although this kind of loan might not satisfy all your business needs, it can significantly boost your daily operations. Generally, there are many funding opportunities out there for women who would like to engage in entrepreneurship activities and have got poor credit scores. All that which needs to be done is making smart homework and researching extensively on the available options

Writing Is Not Typing - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Writing Is Not Typing - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Unlike most other activities, writing is one of those things you can do when youre not tapping away at your keyboard. Not sitting in your favorite coffee shop, pen in hand. Not taking notes about your latest blog post or article. In fact, writing â€" constant writing, as Jeff Goins calls it â€" is an ongoing process that takes place at so many places that arent a keyboard. In this case, constant doesn’t even mean consistent. It’s not about sitting down at your computer every morning at 7am and turning out 500 words of deathless prose. Constant writing is an ongoing process that lets the act of writing get under your skin and into your blood. Constant writing is the easiest way to foster a writing addiction. To do it, you need to stop thinking of writing as Writing â€" an external, objective task. Instead, you need to start thinking of it as a natural part of you, an extension of who you are. Like thinking, breathing, and laughing. Here are three ways you can keep writing, even when youre not actually, you know, writing. 1. Read If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that. â€" Stephen King Sports psychologists have their subjects imagine themselves running the perfect race, playing the perfect game, executing the perfect moves. This mental practice reinforces the same motions and movements the athlete is supposed to make in competition. Researchers have found that this mental rehearsal is nearly as good as the real thing. For writers, our mental practice is reading. Reading other peoples works. Not just online though, but in books. Read authors whose work you admire, whose style you want to emulate. By constantly reading, youre practicing your own writing. Be sure to read works from different kinds of genres, not just your own. Expose yourself to new styles, new authors, and new ways of thinking. 2. Find New Words Goins suggests that the next time youre writing something like a text or an email, focus on the words youre using, and try using new ones. When you write an email, try opening with an impactful lede (newspaper term for lead, or the opening statement). If youre used to using big words, try using small words that a 12-year-old could understand. Or vice versa. I keep a small notebook to record clever turns of a phrase. When I find a new one, Ill write it down, and try to use it somewhere, or come up with my own variation. 3. Step Away From The Notebook Oftentimes our brains will lock up when were trying to come up with an idea. I sat here at my computer for 10 minutes trying to come up with this third point. It was finally when I stepped away for a little while and puttered around that this popped into my head. If you can engage your brain in something fairly routine, mindless, but enjoyable, you can find a new idea or two. Ill go for a walk, clean up in my garage, or start a woodworking project. I let my mind wander, and usually find what I was looking for. The annoying part is, Im usually enjoying my new activity so much, that I hate to stop just to finish the writing. (This is why I keep a notebook handy.) The great thing about being a writer is that we can write anywhere. We just dont need a computer or pen to actually do it. Typing is the art of putting our thoughts onto paper. Its coming up with the thoughts â€" the actual writing â€" that takes place in our brains. Thats the actual hard part.
